At the heart of ASCENT's mission is a sequential series of executive leadership education programs that help multicultural women prepare for and build careers in corporations. These experiences draw women into the progressive cycle of learning and growth that characterizes every successful leader.

Our programs deliver skills and insights appropriate to three levels of experience as well as a special program for board candidates. Programs include:

  • Navigating the Organization Helping high-potential women new to the workplace become socialized, teaching them how to navigate the corporate system for success
  • Mastering Management Providing women in the early years of management the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to be effective managers and assume leadership roles
  • Rising to the Top Guiding high-functioning women executives (director level and above) to C-level positions and board status
  • Corporate Board Preparation A specialized program to prepare high-potential women for board service and to increase the effectiveness of women currently on boards

CURRICULUM ESSENTIALS

Leadership programs are based upon and driven by the research of Professor Bell and other scholars as well as the insight of our corporate partners. Every program includes an international immersion component and company projects. And each participant—known as an Executive Fellow—receives individual professional assessment that she uses to create a professional and personal development plan, aided by coaching and peer counseling.

All Executive Fellows are sponsored by their employers, our corporate partners.

ASCENT executive leadership programs are offered in association with Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth, a world-leading provider of professional advancement training. Tuck offered the first programs for minority executives in 1980 and was the first educational institution inducted into the Minority Business Hall of Fame. Tuck faculty involved in ASCENT programs comprise a diverse group, ensuring a greater degree of trust, openness, and authenticity in the learning process. ASCENT Executive Fellows work in same-race and cross-race groups, enabling them to gain confidence in organizational alliances.
